HOYA Technosurgical, is a subsidiary of HOYA Corporation, established in Tokyo, Japan in 2013, which has the origin of PENTAX medical business unit in 1974 arising from the merger of former PENTAX medical business unit & Japan Universal Technologies, Inc. HOYA Technosurgical will be setting up their first overseas plant in Singapore focusing on manufacturing, research & development and sale of Chromatography Media to pharmaceutical companies.

**Report**ing Relationship**:
Reports to R&D Manager

**Main Purpose of Job**:

- Craft and propose novel research concepts in areas of chromatography process, media and/or column development
- Identity opportunities in chromatography process, media and/or column development and propose innovative and feasible solutions
- Propose and lead both innovative and conventional feasibility tests for new chromatography process, media and/or column concept evaluation and validation
- Focus is placed on observation, research and developing solutions that translate to customers’ and/or the industries “unmet” needs.
- Implement and provide status reports on all developmental activities

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support the R&D Manager in evaluating new concepts in various aspects that includes but not limited to technical feasibility, customer benefits, potential commercial viability, etc.
- Planning, formulation and implementation of data acquistion and analysis
- Design and development of bio-based related products such as but not limited to chromatography media, prepacked coloumns, apatite-based fillers, etc. for commercialization while ensuring compliance to the related regulations
- Develop, validate and document analytical methods and operational protocols according to specific sample or testing requirements
- Drafts contracts that may include but not limited to NDAs, SOWs, LOIs, where appropriate
- Propose suppliers to faciliate work
- Ensure compliance with relevant international regulatory standards, safety requirements, labortory SOPs and company policies and practices
- Conduct market surveys and journal reviews to perform competitive analysis
- Remain up-to-date with scientific and technical developments in the relevant fields, especially with regard to Ceramic Hydroxyapitite (CHT)

**Experience/**Skills**:
**Education**

Masters/PhD in the relevant research, science and/or engineering fields

**Experience**
- 5-8 years or more of work experience in the biotechnology field
- Downstream operational experience at a pharmaceutical company
- Experience in designing and developing chromatography-related products preferred
- Experience in cell culture (aseptic technique)
- Experience of virus culture
- Working knowledge of protein evaluation technology, e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, ELISA, etc.

**Knowled**ge & Skills**
- Knowledge in inorganic and organic chemistry
- Knowledge in Ceramic Hydroxyapatite related fields is a plus
- Knowledge of the latest technology in biochemistry, chemistry, pharmaceuticals and related industries
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and undefined problems
- Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent written communication skills, especially in English
- Excellent data analysis techniques
- CAD design experience is a plus
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 is a plus
- Passionate about research, innovation and working with a multicultural team

**Salary**: $6,700.00 - $10,000.00 per month
