Your role

The Senior Engineer, Advanced Engineering Group will be a member of the Engineering and Customer Solutions leadership team and will support stakeholders across Digital Realty’s global Information Technology and Operations teams. The Senior Engineer, Advanced Engineering Group will have a working knowledge of all Digital Realty’s product lines, data center designs, construction processes, marketplace, and operations including standard operating procedures and maintenance procedures. The candidate should also have a strong technology background with the ability to guide business, innovate, and create new market opportunities. The candidate will be responsible for driving innovation, product engineering, maximizing space and power efficiencies, strategic initiatives, supporting global strategic accounts, site evaluations, marketplace competitive analysis, retrofit planning, and increasing efficiency/collaboration within the CTO Team and throughout Digital Realty. Ideal candidates will have a passion for transformational innovation and disruptive technology with proven industry experience at bringing disparate teams together to form one hivemind. What you’ll do

  • Produce white papers on topics critical to the CTO Team to help drive innovation, spread knowledge, and streamline processes (internal, external, and customer facing)
  • Develop new IP and evaluate emerging technologies
  • Establish and document standards and policies
  • Coordinate between customer design requirements and facility upgrades (retrofit playbook)
  • Provide support for strategic customer accounts
  • Forge ongoing relationships with Design & Construction Team inclusive of a system of checks and balances
  • Perform site evaluations in alignment with product design requirements
  • Provide market sensing competitive analysis
  • Support Sales Engineering efforts (help close deals)
  • Support development and maintenance of white space Design Engineering Guideline (White Space DEG)

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • 7+ years of MEP technical experience – Consulting engineer, on site construction engineer, owner engineering representative, or operations - Data center focused preferred
  • 2+ years data center design experience including MEP infrastructure
  • Effective Solutions Sales Capabilities: Demonstrates advanced solution selling abilities and effective, pro-active customer communications including proposal development, delivery, and RFP responses
  • Proven technical support for sales and marketing initiatives through participation in proposals, marketing studies, speaking engagements, blogs, and other technical writing
  • MEP systems design experience for data centers
  • MEP systems commissioning, start-up, and development of standard operating procedures
  • Data center operations experience including MEP, IT site services, asset management, audit compliance, and disaster recovery programs
  • Support of global engineering, architecture, and development teams
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems
  • Knowledge of advanced networking products and solutions
  • Ability to generate productive collaboration between team members and with other teams
  • Ability to organize technical and market requirements into development roadmaps that drive value for our customers
  • Experience with Cadence CFD or AutoCAD CFD tools
  • Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD Fusion
