Core Responsibilities Develop winning fragrances and fragrance themes, reaching defined key success criteria in area(s) of specialization, by working independently and/or collaboratively on pro-active and reactive projects Manage and continuously enrich own portfolio of fragrances and fragrance themes, optimize and adapt them for various bases, price points, and norms Demonstrate skills working across a spectrum of creation from Activation (more technical and re application oriented) to Innovation (more oriented towards creating novelty in a context of library enrichment and/or pro-active development) Continuously enhance creative and technical skills in area(s) of specialization Promote the use of Givaudan proprietary materials and specialities in the design process as well as through new wins, both in internal and external communication and interactions Through the MAP process, participate in the evaluation of new molecules and ingredients together with perfumery colleagues Contribute actively, together with all stakeholders in development, CMI and marketing, to define and execute on relevant strategies, to build and share market and consumer understanding within the category, on a regional and global level Represent Givaudan with key clients, supporting sales, development and marketing efforts, to build sound relationships and customer intimacy Actively support S&T initiatives and participate in the development of technologies or ingredients, either for ideation, co-creation, and/or validation Coach and mentor junior perfumers for the acquisition of essential creative and technical skills and support other training initiatives geared towards internal and external customers Provide guidance and strategic input to Fragrance Ingredients Management, Operations, Purchasing, and Management, by clearly expressing the needs of perfumery, in terms of ingredients and technology support, as well as for the fragrance design process As appropriate, represent the perfumery team in internal committees, meetings, forums, project teams, as well at external events Utilize and promote use of Givaudan toolbox (ex., Miriad) throughout development process Main Requirements Bachelors degree in chemistry or relevant fields Proficiency in English Consistent career as Perfumer, with mastery of corresponding skills required Minimum 6 years experience as Perfumer Technical Skills Fragrance Creation Ingredients & Formulation Effectively manages own, rich portfolio of winning themes and perfumes Demonstrates a high creative and technical expertise in given field(s) of specialisation Demonstrates ability to leverage own portfolio into other categories, either by own means or by collaborating effectively with peers Demonstrates an expert knowledge of Givaudan specialties and captives, as well as of relevant technologies Demonstrates ability to effectively collaborate with peers of own category, as well as cross category, both regionally and globally Demonstrates agility to switch to another segment and/or creation centre as a way to broaden experience and meet the needs of the company Systems, Processes, RAPS/Legislation Masters all relevant systems, processes and has a sound knowledge of RAPS and the legislative framework General Business Skills Masters essential skills in the areas of project and project portfolio management, priority setting, time and resource management Possesses a strong internal network of colleagues in all relevant departments involved in the fragrance design process and is capable to effectively collaborate with them on a regional and global level Basic ability to think strategically and to contribute to the definition of strategies in support of management Customer & Consumer/Market Knowledge Customer Knowledge and Relationships Strong ability to leverage strong customer knowledge, build relationships and customer intimacy Effectively represents Givaudan with customers, in all relevant business situations Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with clients in creation process (P2P) Demonstrates a good market and consumer understanding in the area(s) of speciality both on a regional and global level Possess a good understanding of market research methodologies and techniques in area(s) of specialization Market Knowledge Demonstrates solid knowledge of F&F industry, including relative performance of key players vs. Givaudan Demonstrates expert knowledge of markets and consumers, as well as relevant dynamics and trends General Business Understanding Solid understanding of Givaudan's capabilities, processes and functional interfaces in all relevant business areas Demonstrates an expert knowledge of Givaudan's Science & Technology capabilities and various tools available Possesses a strong business acumen and strong knowledge of financial concepts, and is able to apply them to the fragrance design pro-cess, to drive win rate and profitability Demonstrates agility and professionalism to represent perfumery team at internal committees and forums, such as Cardex Committee, Perfumery Council, etc., as well as at external organizations Strong ability to articulate Givaudan's brand and value proposition to influence customers Self-Management and Leadership Is capable to work not only independently, but also effectively in a team, leading, collaborating and sharing with others Ability to work successfully with global teams Ability to communicate effectively across functions and geographies Learns from experiences; handles mistakes with poise Readily seeks and accepts advice from colleagues Readily transmits and shares knowledge with peers and category stakeholders Capable to assume a driving (leadership) role
