Job Title Unix Engineer (AIX Specialist)Overview We are seeking an experienced Unix Engineer with strong expertise in IBM AIX technologies to join our IT team. If you are a motivated Unix Engineer looking to advance your career, we encourage you to apply. Key Responsibilities Provide Level 3 support for IBM AIX operating systems and related technologies. Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues on IBM AIX systems. Perform system administration tasks including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of AIX servers. Manage and optimize virtualization technologies such as PowerVM, SR‐IOV, Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA), and PowerVM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS). Monitor system performance and implement necessary adjustments to enhance system stability and efficiency. Collaborate with cross‐functional IT teams to integrate AIX systems within the broader IT infrastructure. Develop, update, and maintain detailed documentation related to AIX systems, configurations, and procedures. Participate in on‐call rotations to respond promptly to critical incidents and minimize downtime. Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard AIX systems against vulnerabilities and threats. Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in AIX and related technologies to continuously improve system operations. Manage complex AIX environments ensuring high availability and reliability. Work independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve organizational goals. Qualifications Minimum 5‐7 years of experience in IBM AIX system administration and support. Strong knowledge of AIX operating system architecture and command‐line proficiency. Hands‐on experience with virtualization technologies including PowerVM, SR‐IOV, SEA, and VIOS. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues. Experience in performance tuning and capacity planning for AIX systems. Familiarity with security best practices and implementation on AIX platforms. Excellent problem‐solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Specialist – Power Systems or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert – Power Systems are highly desirable. Preferred Skills Experience managing large‐scale and complex AIX environments. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., KornShell, Bash, Perl) to automate routine tasks.
