Storage Systems Specialist

Job Description:

  • Collect and analyze storage log data, creating detailed reports.
  • Review provisioning configurations, suggesting enhancements based on best practices and recommending procedure changes for operational optimization.
  • Test and verify configuration changes, new patches, or software releases to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage changes, participating in planning, approval, and implementation of authorized change requests.
  • Generate regular operational reports using customer-supplied or vendor tools to provide visibility into system performance.
  • Participate in storage capacity measurement and capacity planning, including forecasting to meet business needs.
  • Address vulnerabilities found on storage hardware and software products, ensuring the highest level of security.
  • Assist with technical planning for future initiatives, aligning with business objectives.
  • Develop recommendations for customers outlining areas for improvement, including operational, technical, or support-related areas.
  • Enhance customers' understanding and knowledge of storage solutions to maximize benefits from product features and functionality.
  • Train customers' staff in efficient methods of utilizing storage solution capabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT storage environments with a strong focus on system administration.
  • Familiarity with storage systems and a good understanding of storage hands-on configuration and data migration.
  • Good experience with technical principles of disaster recovery, backup solutions, and data migration solutions for storage.
  • Daily monitoring experience and incident/support skills are essential.
  • Basics in OS concepts of Windows/Linux/Unix Systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Solaris, AIX, etc.).
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong customer focus and multi-tasking skills are necessary.

Desirable Skills:

  • Hardware expertise is beneficial.
  • Change Management and Root Cause Analysis skills are valuable.
  • Experience with SAN, Ubuntu, CentOS, Windows, Solaris, and AIX is desirable.
