Senior / Staff Software Engineer, Digital Economy Products (DEP)GovTech Singapore invites applications for the Senior / Staff Software Engineer, Digital Economy Products (DEP) role. GovTech is the lead agency driving Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives and public sector digital transformation as the Centre of Excellence for Infocomm Technology and Smart Systems (ICT & SS). The DEP division works like a modern product organisation, solving important underserved problems across sectors such as Healthcare, Manpower, Trade‐Industry‐Finance, National Development, and Sustainability. What you will be working on Lead one or more cross‐functional squads to design, develop and maintain high‐quality software products that serve the public good. Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Drive software development initiatives, provide technical guidance and coaching, and champion best practices for coding standards, architecture, and security. Key Responsibilities Lead squads and drive the technical design and architecture of software solutions, ensuring security, scalability, performance, and maintainability. Provide mentoring and technical leadership to your team, uplift engineering competencies, and establish coding standards and development processes. Identify and resolve technical debt and risks while balancing feature delivery. Champion modern software development practices (CI/CD, containerisation, observability) and adopt relevant technologies. Lead Scrum ceremonies, provide product context, remove blockers, and ensure timely delivery. Qualifications & Experience Senior: 5‐8 years of software engineering experience; Staff: 7‐12 years, building large, highly available systems at scale. Proven track record of delivering technically complex products. Strong experience with modern full‐stack web application technologies; preferred stack includes Next.js/React.js/Nuxt/Vue.js on the front end and Java/TypeScript/Node.js/Golang on the back end. Proficient with databases (SQL & NoSQL) and data modelling. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, and/or GCP. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration tools. Experience with observability and monitoring tools (ELK, CloudWatch, Splunk). Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders. Bonus: led legacy system modernisation projects; willing to adopt Infrastructure‐as‐Code (Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible). What We Value Passion for public good.
