Mechanical Supervisor

Supervise installation, assembly, and testing of mechanical systems, including piping, valves, and static equipment and rigging activities. Ensure work is executed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Verify alignment, torqueing, and testing procedures are carried out correctly. Lead and manage teams of mechanical technicians, fitters, and helpers on site. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure productivity targets are achieved. Coordinate with other discipline supervisors (electrical, civil, instrumentation) to avoid interface conflicts. HSE & Quality Enforcement Enforce strict compliance with HSE procedures, including permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and confined space entry. Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and hazard identification with the team. Ensure that quality requirements and inspection hold points are respected during execution. Work Preparation & Planning Review construction schedules and look-ahead plans with the Site Manager and Planner. Verify availability of manpower, tools, lifting equipment, and consumables before starting tasks. Participate in constructability reviews and provide feedback on work sequencing. Progress Monitoring & Reporting Track daily progress and report status, issues, and resource utilization to the Site Manager. Identify delays or constraints and propose corrective actions. Maintain site documentation, including work permits, daily logs, and inspection records. Support mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including flushing, leak testing, and functional testing. Ensure punch list items are closed before system handover. Liaise with QA/QC and client inspectors during final inspections. Special Working Conditions Onshore site visits and extended working hours may be required during critical project phases. Must be available for rapid deployment to project sites when operational issues arise. Physical Requirements Fit for offshore work and able to meet physical demands and extended standing in field visit conditions. Education Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or vocational training with equivalent industry experience. Specialized Knowledge / Experience Mechanical Systems Knowledge Strong expertise in the installation and maintenance of piping systems, rotating and static equipment, and mechanical auxiliaries. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Supervisory & Leadership Skills Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary mechanical crews in a construction or offshore environment. Skilled in assigning tasks, monitoring work quality, and mentoring junior staff. Planning & Coordination Familiarity with project scheduling, resource allocation, and progress measurement. Experience coordinating mechanical works with electrical, civil, and commissioning teams. HSE & Quality Awareness Knowledge of ISO 45001 (HSE) and ISO 9001 (Quality) standards. Strong commitment to enforcing safety and quality compliance on site. Industry Experience 7–10 years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory role. Background in EPC, offshore, oil & gas, or power generation projects is highly desirable. Software & Tools Proficiency in MS Office for reporting. Familiarity with planning tools (Primavera, MS Project) for reviewing construction schedules. Accreditation / Certification Professional Certifications NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent mechanical trade certification (preferred). OEM training for specific rotating equipment (advantageous). Safety & Offshore Training Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET / T-BOSIET). Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Rigging & Slinging, and Permit to Work (PTW) training. Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) and lifting operations awareness certification. Other Relevant Training First Aid and Firefighting awareness.
