This individual reports directly to the Director of Community Operations and Activities, as well as Heads of Activities (High School/Middle School/Primary School) and Activities at Height Coordinator on East Campus. United World College South East Asia East Campus Sports Programme aims to discover and develop the potential in each and every student commensurate with age and ability in a wide range of activities. Main Responsibilities Deliver SNCS courses on campus in accordance with approved training standards. Follow and apply the SSCMF syllabus throughout all course sessions. Ensure all learning outcomes are met while maintaining safety and instructional clarity. Safety & Risk Management Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students, adhering to safeguarding policies and supervising students effectively during sessions and competitions. Perform pre- and post-session equipment and facilities' checks Ensure all climbing equipment is used correctly and remains within serviceable condition. Follow risk management procedures and report any concerns or incidents immediately. Monitor wall conditions and communicate any safety-related maintenance needs. Report any hazards, equipment concerns, or site issues immediately to the Head of Climbing. Operational Duties Participate in mandatory in-house Site-Specific Trainings (SST) as required. Ensure all equipment and facilities are returned to their original and proper state after each course. Follow established SOPs and uphold best practices during instruction. Professional Conduct & Punctuality Arrive on time and prepared for all sessions, meetings and competitions. Model responsible, respectful and professional behavior at all times. Respect time commitments and notify relevant parties of any unavoidable delays or absences. Wear appropriate attire and maintain readiness to lead safe and effective sessions. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate attendance records and session reports as required. Assist with course logistics, participant registrations, end of course reports and post-course reviews or reflections. Contribute to participant progress tracking and programme evaluation efforts. Assistant Coaching Duties: Instructors who are interested may have opportunities to assist in climbing coaching or PE classes The same expectations of safety management, professionalism and instructional quality apply when assisting coaching sessions Person Specifications Qualifications: SNCS Category 1 - Sports Climbing Instructor or higher Site Specific Training Validation For UWCSEA (carried out on-site for successful candidate)Valid First Aid and CPR certification Proficient in written and spoken English Safeguarding/Child Protection Training (preferred or must be completed upon appointment)Ability to collaborate with other staff members in the college to assist in the planning of lessons and developing the programme To demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference to the lives of students and members of the UWCSEA community Experience Minimum 2 - 3 years of instruction experience; ideally in an international school or club environment Effectively manage risk throughout the programme Experience working in a multicultural, diverse school environment is an advantage. Strong technical knowledge of climbing. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor students/participants. Positive role model who demonstrates professionalism, reliability and enthusiasm. Culturally sensitive and adaptable, with a commitment to the holistic development of students/participants.
