Overview
The Assistant Manager, Student Care & Development plays a pivotal role in MSc & PhD students’ journey by providing personalized support and enhancing students’ overall experience at the university. This position serves as a primary point of contact for students in the MSc & PhD programmes by helping them navigate administrative processes, connect with university resources, and maintain academic progress.
Responsibilities
Serving as the first point of contact for MSc & PhD students, addressing their inquiries and concerns related to programme requirements, university policies, and administrative processes.
Proactively checking in with students to ensure their well-being and academic progress, providing guidance and referring them to appropriate resources when needed. This includes coordinating with relevant departments to facilitate access to campus services, including career support, mental health resources, and academic advising.
Planning and implementing student engagement activities, workshops, industry visits and events such as orientation and graduation dinner to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
Planning and implementing alumni engagement activities such as Alumni networking, building a stronger alumni community and providing opportunities for professional networking.
Assisting with onboarding and orientation sessions for new students, ensuring a smooth transition into their MSc & PhD programmes.
Maintaining accurate records of student interactions and support services provided.
Collecting and analyzing feedback from students to identify common challenges and areas for improvement within the MSc programmes.
Preparing periodic reports on student engagement, support needs, and service utilization to inform programme improvements.
Requirements
A recognized university degree, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Prior counselling experience or certification in counselling is advantageous.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Event management experience. Experience in planning, organizing, and executing student engagement activities, workshops, and alumni event is an advantage.
Proficiency with common office software and communication tools.
Basic understanding of counseling techniques or student advising.
Ability to collect, manage, and analyze data for feedback, tracking and reporting purposes.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and stay organized amidst competing demands.
