About Role
We are looking for a supportive and enthusiastic mathematician who can also teach a Single science to IGCSE level, and whose vision is to see all students develop a passion for these subjects and understand their places as applied subjects in the world around them. The desirable candidate is an adaptable team member, who values deepening their own subject knowledge to enable teaching across all aspects of IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Science to IGCSE level. Experience of teaching mathematics at the highest levels, particularly Further Mathematics, and the ability to facilitate preparation for university entrance tests is desirable. The postholder will be a full member of the academic faculty, serving as a form tutor and mentor, leading a Co-curricular activity, performing duties, joining trips, and being involved with school and student events and professional learning. It is desirable if candidates are able to offer a second subject to at least IGCSE level.
Post-holder Qualifications, Experience
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate must be:
Passionate about Maths and a Single Science and be able to inspire students to study their subject further
Capable of delivering Maths and a Single Science knowledge to the depth required at the A2 level
Successful in showing student progress so that students are fully prepared for external examinations at IGCSE and A level stages
Experienced (or willing to learn) in using formative assessment in order to advance student learning
Actively engaged in furthering their own pedagogical knowledge
Willing to collaborate with a diverse range of teachers in order to create an engaging classroom
Able to differentiate in order to meet the needs of all students, especially within an EAL environment
Willing to engage in the student’s own culture (Chinese) in order to fully know your students
Knowledgeable in the latest safeguarding systems in order to ensure student wellbeing
Eager to fully engage with the students in their Co-curricular activities
Adaptable in the classroom in order to make full use of educational technology to meet student needs
Able to demonstrate that they hold the highest expectations of the students and themselves.
