Micron’s NTI TD group is seeking a process development engineer to support TD activities for rapid deployment of technology nodes, process margin improvement, and extended engagement with manufacturing on upcoming technology nodes. Overview The role involves developing and optimizing unit processes to meet yield and quality requirements for advanced NAND part types, evaluating innovative process and equipment solutions for early experimentation, and collaborating across teams to drive yield, quality, and manufacturability improvements in diffusion/deposition processes. Responsibilities Develop and optimize unit processes to meet yield and quality requirements of advanced NAND parts. Quantify benefits of innovative process or equipment solutions to enable early experimentation and adoption for process margin improvement. Prioritize key technology issues within the Singapore-based manufacturing Diffusion team for TD breakthroughs. Integrate and troubleshoot processes as part of cross-functional teams driving yield and quality improvement. Collaborate with Boise TD Films peers on technology choices for upcoming nodes and translate future technology device needs into clear process requirements. Identify disruptive processes early and work with manufacturing and Boise TD to identify viable paths forward. Perform fundamental research, hardware evaluations, and testing of processes for novel applications; generate IP relevant to Micron. Initiate and manage experiments to widen process margins and assess manufacturability of next-node solutions. Identify process simplification opportunities and drive cross-functional implementation. Incorporate best known manufacturing methods into early development phases of upcoming nodes. Design and implement advanced process monitoring and control methodologies. Serve as a technical expert contributing to projects for process, procedure, and equipment improvements. Lead teams, sites, or suppliers on complex, multi-disciplinary projects in quality, process and yield improvement, cost and productivity improvement meetings. Provide advice to management on significant technical issues; lead innovation projects through patents and technical papers. Communicate with partners locally and globally; adhere to Micron Intellectual Property protection policy. Engage with suppliers in continuous worldwide TD collaboration for breakthrough solutions. Ownership of module business process. Requirements Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Materials Science, Chemical/Microelectronic Engineering, Physics, or relevant field. Deep understanding of flow dynamics, thermodynamics, physical phenomena, and their application to diffusion deposition across deposition methods. Ability to understand and mitigate precursor depletion effects in 3D structures. Basic understanding of films and interface engineering and analysis techniques (SIMS, XPS, EDX, SEM/TEM). Understanding of integration and structural constraints related to film deposition processes. Understanding of general process steps and flow for memory processing, including planar and vertical NAND. Working knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Y3) for analyzing experimental data. Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE). Proven ability to collaborate with local and overseas teams; strong oral and written communication skills for concise remote and local communication. Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of prioritizing multiple projects in a demanding environment. Willingness to travel for extended periods to work on technology development.
