About the Role: The role of the Academic and College Counselor is to advise students and parents through the college application process and provide guidance on their academic pathway and plans in relation to their future post‐secondary goals. Position Requirements: Minimum 12 years of experience in an international environment Minimum 12 years of experience in college admissions or high school college counseling An understanding of admissions for educational systems around the world An understanding of International Baccalaureate (IBMYP/IBDP) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs Experience in a school offering multiple curricula Highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills Excellent verbal and written English skills Strong organizational ability in order to meet deadlines Proficiency in using school systems and databases, communications platforms, and educational technology Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population Knowledge of colleges, their academic programs, admission policies, and financial policies and procedures Ability to advise students to various regions/countries around the world including US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Asia Demonstration of the Stamford Values – Courage, Ingenuity, Compassion, Integrity Advisory/pastoral experience preferred Experience in supporting students from diverse language backgrounds is an advantage Qualifications: Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent is required Master's degree in a relevant field preferred With a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, all potential employees undergo mandatory pre‐employment background checks, and appointments are contingent upon satisfactory completion of all reference and background checks, as required by our parent organization, Cognita.
