The Research Engineer will conduct cutting-edge research on large language models (LLMs) for Southeast Asian languages. LLMs have demonstrated excellent performance on a large number of language and multimodal tasks. However, training LLMs on low-resource languages such as Malay, Thai, and Vietnamese remains a challenging problem. In this project, we aim to build LLMs that understand and respect SEA culture and customs.**Key Responsibilities:*** Conduct research in the field of neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs).* Independently read and critically evaluate existing literature on NLP and LLMs. * Implement neural networks and carry out experiments under the guidance of a professor* Write papers and present the research work to a wide audience**Job Requirements:*** Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on neural networks, natural language processing, or similar areas.* Strong proficiency in C programming language.* A strong curiosity for learning new concepts and exploring unsolved problems.* Sharp observational skills, with the ability to notice details that others may miss.* Resilience and determination to persevere through temporary setbacks.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for research work.* Strong teamwork abilities, a strong sense of responsibility, and excellent interpersonal skills.We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTU NTU is also home to world-class autonomous institutes – the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering – and various leading research centres such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Energy Research Institute @ NTU ( ).
