Locations: Singapore Department: Diesel Department Reporting to: Technical Manager – Diesel Responsibilities As a Service Engineer, model and lead by example, including supervising subordinates with a positive attitude towards work, customers, and profitability of the job. Contribute to the performance appraisal of subordinates. Involve in counseling as part of discipline actions for violations of rules by subordinates. Perform inspection, installation (including engine alignment), repair, upgrading, troubleshooting and overhaul of diesel engines and auxiliary equipment. Communicate with agent/ship owner reps/Class/Goltens/sub-contractors, including arranging work/entry permits via email and phone. Be proactive in communicating and accessible to customers and the Dept. Manager with timely reporting on job status and technical issues. Prepare risk assessments and checklists for assigned job scope. Prepare for jobs with scope including technical information, work and manpower plan, schedule, tools and tackles; conduct daily toolbox meetings with the team at commencement. Coordinate with internal departments on allocated jobs for completion as per scope and schedule. Ensure timesheets are submitted correctly and timely. Control job costs by tracking man-hours, material and vendor costs within budget; timely issuance of MR’s and job folder updates on miscellaneous costs. Coordinate with Customer and Sales to update the Dept. Manager on additional work scopes with proper paperwork and approvals. Coordinate with SCM for air ticketing and other transport arrangements for personnel and materials for on-site attendance. Prepare handwritten work completion reports, with data recorded per format templates and service reports with photos, upon job completion. Prepare formal investigation reports with photographs as per Goltens Singapore format. Provide formal recommendations and repair proposals for breakdowns or failures, and implement corrective actions during work progress. Generate spare parts lists required for overhaul and repair. Prepare a Gantt chart for the work schedule per Goltens Singapore format. Maintain good knowledge of engines, including slow, medium, high speed diesel and gas engines. Maintain the workshop, plant equipment, and tools in good order; uphold housekeeping at all job locations. Ensure testing and monitoring equipment/instruments are identified and maintained in good order at all times. Read and interpret drawings, manuals and code specifications. Always prioritize safety and health for yourself and colleagues and follow the company’s environment, health and safety policy. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the manager or management. Required Qualifications And Skills Technical / Professional At least Diploma in Marine/Mechanical Engineering At least 5 years working experience with Engine Makers and the Marine/Offshore/Power Generation Industry Knowledge of high speed Caterpillar engines Preferably with sailing experience and with Seaman book Technological Competent in Microsoft Office General Fluent in English speaking and report writing Ability to work well under pressure Demonstrate ability to handle work professionally, independently and efficiently Continuous improvement mindset Able to travel frequently People/Relations Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Good team player with a positive attitude, integrity, interpersonal, organization and time management skills Industrial Knowledge Marine or Offshore Industry #J-18808-Ljbffr
