SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Overview Join a leading international school and enjoy: 5-day work week, Term-Time Role; Paid school holidays and subsidized lunch; Competitive remuneration package & benefits (medical, dental, etc.)Dulwich College (Singapore)is seeking to recruit a skilled and knowledgeable SCIENCE TECHNICIAN to join its Senior School (Secondary equivalent)in JANUARY 2026to support the Science Department in the management and preparation of resources to enable the effective delivery of science curriculum at the College, as well as the maintenance and testing of equipment. Our College offers both the IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB)programmes, and we are looking for the ideal candidate with a strong background in science and a higher level of technical understanding. Responsibilities Prepare resources, make up solutions, assemble apparatus, and deliver equipment to labs as required; Play an active role in developing and trialing new practical activities; Assist and demonstrate in practical classes as required; Provide technical advice and assistance to teachers, technicians and students; Supervise students carrying out investigations and experiments; Keep laboratories tidy and ordered; Oversee the clearing away, storage and maintenance of practical equipment after practical lessons; Work with other Technicians to ensure the safe storage, concentration of stock solutions suitable for students, labels, warning signs and disposal of chemical and biological waste according to local regulations and guidelines; Support the College cleaning staff in ensuring the safe cleaning of science laboratories and preparation areas; Keep up-to-date with health and safety regulations; Carry out risk assessments of own activities and practical work as requested by teachers, seeking advice when necessary; Provide advice on safe practice and monitoring activities to ensure they are followed; Assist in the management, use, and provision of resources, including books and teaching materials; Maintain class sets of laboratory resources (including stationery); Service and clean equipment and resources as required; Carry out stocktaking of equipment, chemicals and stationery, in order to maintain appropriate stock of apparatus and consumables; Fix broken science equipment. If not possible, organise for it to be fixed or replaced; Monitor access to science laboratories and prepare areas; Attend additional training as required; All other duties commensurate with the post. Qualifications A Certificate or Diploma in a Science discipline; A minimum of two years’ work experience in a laboratory or engineering setting or similar; Experience of working with electrical and laboratory equipment (advantageous); Sound knowledge of chemical use and safety and ability to ensure the safe and effective maintenance of equipment and laboratory spaces; Experience of undertaking risk assessments, implementing and monitoring health and safety plans; Experience in a secondary school or college setting (IGCSE and/or IB experience is an advantage); Ability to follow procedures and guidelines and capable of preparing and supporting advanced practical experiments, particularly for IB Higher Level courses; Fluency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Flexible approach to work, and willingness to contribute to the wider team; Ability to use own initiative to undertake required tasks.
