Job Description

To evaluate the robustness and efficiency of an organization's internal control framework, ensuring the mitigation of operational, financial, and reputational risk.

  • Collaboration with various stakeholders across departments to enhance overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the organizational control framework.
  • Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the organization's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.

Key Accountabilities

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of an organization's internal control framework to ensure the mitigation of risk and protection of its operational, financial, and reputational risk.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of an organization's internal control framework, including processes, procedures, and risks associated with each area.
  • Identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the organizational control framework.
  • Closely collaborate with other functions/divisions to drive consistency of approach.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on internal control matters to colleagues, senior management, and other stakeholders.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, utilizing well-developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the business function as a whole.
  • Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with team activities and projects.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve business objectives and goals.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in Risk and Control: knowledgeable on aspects of Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Operational Risk Framework (ORF) and organizational control frameworks.
  • Experience of working in or within a Control type role/team.
  • Ability to apply judgment and balance risk versus business interest while ensuring compliance to all relevant policies and standards.
  • Autonomous and able to influence & deliver in a matrix organization.
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure, delivering to tight deadlines and multiple demands.
  • Collaborative and able to share best practice at all levels.
  • Preference for a working knowledge of Risk and Control focus areas in Private Banking, Wealth and/or Asset Management.
