Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as cranes and heavy vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repair:

    • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of cranes and heavy vehicle (prime mover, lorry crane, mobile cranes, crawler crane, etc.).
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
    • Replace worn-out or damaged components such as hydraulic pumps, engines, and cables.

  • Troubleshoot & Diagnostics:

    • Identify operational issues and breakdown causes.
    • Use diagnostic tools and manuals to pinpoint malfunctions.
    • Conduct on-site emergency repairs when necessary.

  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and industry safety regulations.
    • Conduct safety checks and inspections to prevent equipment failure.

  • Fieldwork & Site Support:

    • Travel to job sites to perform maintenance and emergency repairs.
    • Work closely with crane operators and site managers to ensure smooth operations.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualifications:

    • At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience in crane and heavy vehicles maintenance and repair.
    • Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems in cranes and heavy vehicles.
    • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and electrical circuits in cranes.
    • Ability to diagnose and repair faults using diagnostic tools and software.
    • Willingness to travel to job sites for on-site repairs.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good communication skills to interact with crane operators and supervisors.
    • A valid driver's license (preferred for on-site repairs).
