Roles & Responsibilities Singapore Aquatics (SAQ) is the governing body for aquatic sports including swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming and open water swimming in Singapore. As a leading National Sports Association, we invite passionate and capable applicants who can contribute to our cause in the following position: 1) TECHNICAL DIRECTOR (SWIMMING) Job Summary Singapore Aquatics is seeking an experienced and visionary Technical Director (TD) to lead the technical development of coaches, athletes, and programs across the nation. The TD will be instrumental in fostering a high-performance environment, enhancing coaching standards, and ensuring a clear pathway for athlete progression. With a focus on sustainable success, the TD will integrate the latest methodologies in sports science and coaching, driving both national and international podium achievements. Key Responsibilities Coach Education & Development: · Design and implement a comprehensive coach education framework to ensure that all coaches are equipped with advanced techniques, strategies, and methodologies. · Provide mentorship, evaluation, and professional development opportunities for coaches at all levels (grassroots to elite). · Organize and lead workshops, seminars, and certification courses to promote a collaborative learning environment for coaches. · Develop a transparent coaching pathway that supports talent identification and aligns with Singapore Aquatics' long-term goals. · Establish and manage a coach accreditation system to enhance coaching standards nationwide. Athlete Development & High-Performance Strategy: · Oversee and guide junior national training programs to ensure a seamless progression from talent identification to elite-level performance. · Collaborate with national and personal coaches to design individualized training plans, focusing on long-term athlete development and podium potential. · Ensure the effective integration of sports science, medicine, and technology into training regimes. · Set key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor athlete progression and the success of development programs. · Align all development and high-performance strategies with Singapore Aquatics’ Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. Leadership & Strategic Planning: · Develop and execute a long-term technical strategy that fosters a sustainable high-performance culture within Singapore Aquatics. · Work closely with the executive committee to identify key areas for growth within Singapore’s aquatics ecosystem. · Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including coaches, athletes, sports institutes, government bodies, and international aquatics federations. · Ensure alignment between national, regional, and club-level coaching structures to support a seamless athlete pathway. Program Development & Innovation: · Introduce innovative programs and training methodologies that improve athlete performance and enhance participation across age groups. · Utilize data analytics and research to refine training techniques and inform decision-making processes. · Stay informed of global trends in aquatic sports, continuously incorporating new insights into Singapore Aquatics' coaching and technical programs. Participation & Grassroots Development: · Develop strategies to increase participation and retention across all levels of aquatic sports, from grassroots to elite. · Collaborate with clubs, schools, and community organizations to maintain a strong and sustainable talent pipeline. · Provide leadership and guidance to regional coaching teams, ensuring consistent program delivery across all levels. Key Qualifications and Experience: · Education : Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. · Experience : Proven experience in coaching education, technical leadership, and high-performance sport, particularly in aquatic disciplines, at international level. · Demonstrated success in developing athletes and coaches for national and international success. · Extensive experience in long-term athlete development, with the ability to mentor and educate coaches effectively. · Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects. · Knowledge of sports science, sports medicine, and performance technology is a strong advantage. Preferred Qualities: · Visionary and innovative, with a passion for advancing aquatic sports in Singapore. · Ability to foster strong relationships with local and international partners. · Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to utilize data to drive improvements in coaching and athlete development.
