Purpose of the Job
The Trading and Analytics team is responsible for designing and maintaining an array of supply and demand models used for commercial decision making, namely, chartering, (fleet placement and trading strategy), asset-backed hedging decisions and proprietary trading. We are looking for a junior analyst to join our team. He or she will have a passion for markets/ commodities and data, and is a driven self-starter.
This is a multi-faceted role; a combination of:
model maintenance and development
position management
asset investment / business case & profitability analysis
trade reconciliation
ad hoc market analysis
potentially trade execution
We are looking for a commercially minded graduate (or young professional who has been working for maximum 2-3 years) with an interest in Commodities and a strong numbers background.
Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities
Maintaining, improving and potentially owning existing models.
Position management; reconciling both derivative positions and derivative positions against physical assets (hedge)
Developing reports (in Power BI) to monitor P&L and risk for a multitude of positions / assets
Updating existing revenue stream models for assets
As well as helping to maintain the desks’ suite of models,
creating a roadmap for new models (defining inputs, variables, model scope) that identify forwards commodity flow trends
Drawing insights from the Desks’ models using them to present trading ideas and dynamic thoughts on traded markets.
Working with our Data Analyst to deliver models on the most efficient platform and code in the most efficient/ robust way.
Be excited by the prospect of being involved in ad hoc or new projects; for example, managing / creating position management platforms for environmental product trading, or any other new business-related venture.
