The School invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Lecturer for DF3010 Experimental Film Production. The Part-Time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate core course commencing in August 2025.

Description

DF3010 Experimental Film Production is a 13-week course that focuses on the creation of films allowing experimentation in various stages of filmmaking processes, including screenplay, mise-en-scene, cinematography, scenography, music composition, sound design, and editing. Students will focus on developing alternate forms of (non) narrative story structures.

Throughout the semester, students will be assigned exercises to explore major experimental film methods and approaches. These exercises will help students enrich their ideas of contemporary filmmaking. The main outcome of the class will be short experimental films, which students will conceptualize, film, edit, and present.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of the audio aspect of students' projects related to digital filmmaking from initial concept to final sound mix.
  • Guiding students in exploring the possibilities of audio for film in various forms, including traditional scripted filmmaking, serialized content, non-scripted content, and short-format videos.
Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • A relevant Master's and/or PhD in audio or a related field with a track record of creative practice in film production.
  • Past teaching experience at the Undergraduate Level is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Film Production or a related field and sufficient relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
