About The Role
As a Senior Pharmacist/Principal Pharmacist in ALPS, you will be based in one of the 27 Public Healthcare Institutions (PHI) in Singapore. You will be responsible for ensuring the continuity, quality, and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceutical supplies through close collaboration with clinical teams and inventory units. Working in a team, the role involves overseeing procurement and contract submissions, maintaining accurate pharmacy systems, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in stakeholder engagement, operational decision-making, and leading pharmacy teams to uphold patient safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage expectations and work closely with clinical pharmacists and/or physicians on alternate sources and drugs when usual sources have supply issues.
Ensure proper and comprehensive evaluation of all drugs and gather inputs from key stakeholders (physicians, nurses and/or clinical pharmacists). Represent the institution as an evaluation committee member in drug and pharmaceutical product evaluation.
Maintain optimal inventory to achieve stock availability while avoiding overstocking and wastage.
Work with the pharmacy inventory team on inventory management of all pharmacy sections, support stock take activities and reporting.
Participate in operational workgroups, quality improvement/productivity projects, management of critical supplies and stocks, and attend management meetings at the supporting site.
Timely sourcing and processing of purchase requests from users – ensure requests are fulfilled on time to prevent impact on patient treatment plans.
Verify and submit requirements of national contracts considering past usage and future trends of disease treatment protocols aligned with MOH directives and international guidelines.
Achieve cost-savings from purchases (Group/cluster contracts and institution quotations/negotiations).
Manage controlled drugs, distribute effectively and in accordance with Misuse of Drugs Acts.
Ensure continuity of critical supplies or alternate products during exceptional periods.
Minimize total value of goods written-off across Pharmacy stores and related sub-stores.
Material/item code creation and updates. Maintain PHI pharmacy systems (SAP and dispensing systems) on cost price, selling price, drug class and drug subsidy status/type.
Handle audit queries in related areas, manage stakeholders at the supporting site, and lead and motivate the site team.
Requirements
Degree in Pharmacy with minimum 5 years' of relevant professional practice experience
A registered pharmacist with the Singapore Pharmacy Council
Strong interpersonal skills and experience in engaging stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and knowledge of SAP-MM
Relevant experience in procurement and inventory management of drugs and pharmaceutical products
Good negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
Self-motivated, independent worker with team spirit and good problem solving skills
