Project Title: Physics-based modelling of ionospheric plasma dynamics for accurate positioning and navigation. Position Summary The PhD Research Engineer will work on a project that studies and analyzes the physics of ionospheric dynamics, scintillation, and plasma bubble irregularities to improve GNSS positioning and navigation. The research will involve physical causal modelling and efficient simulations of GNSS signals through ionospheric multilayers, combining classical physics techniques and state-of-the-art machine learning to develop an ionospheric anomaly threat model. Responsibilities Perform research on physical causal modelling and efficient simulations of GNSS signals through the ionospheric multilayers. Apply classical physics modelling techniques and modern machine learning to develop an ionospheric anomaly threat model to predict important ionospheric parameters for GNSS positioning and navigation. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or Physical Sciences. Knowledge of electromagnetism and plasma physics. Good knowledge of data analytics, AI & machine learning is desirable. Keen interest in contributing to the safety of aviation and maritime systems. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
