Job Summary The Economics Teacher plays a vital role in delivering high‐quality Economics education at both IGCSE and A Level, aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the vision, ethos, and values of Invictus International School. The candidate will demonstrate subject mastery, enthusiasm for inquiry‐based learning, and the ability to foster critical and independent thinking in students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Overall Responsibilities Promote and maintain high academic standards in Economics, ensuring excellent progress and attainment across all key stages taught. Actively support and realise the mission, vision, and values of Invictus International School. Inspire and motivate students, fostering intellectual curiosity and a passion for Economics. Comply with the professional duties outlined in the Invictus Staff Handbook. Engage positively with the school's appraisal and performance management systems. Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students. Contribute to a positive, purposeful, and professional school culture. Support and attend all major school events and co‐curricular activities. Teaching, Learning and Assessment Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Economics lessons for both IGCSE and A Level following Cambridge International guidelines. Maintain functional familiarity with the UK National Curriculum and Invictus Schemes of Work (LTPs/MTPs). Differentiate teaching methods to accommodate varying student abilities and learning styles. Use a range of assessment strategies to inform teaching, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback. Prepare students for both internal assessments and external examinations (CAIE). Maintain accurate and comprehensive assessment records and reports. Ensure effective use of technology and digital tools in teaching and learning. Encourage cross‐curricular links and the integration of literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills within lessons. Promote student independence, leadership, and voice within the classroom. Pastoral Care and Student Development Serve as a Form Tutor / Homeroom Teacher providing academic and pastoral support to a designated group of students. Monitor students' academic progress and wellbeing, liaising with parents and pastoral leaders as needed. Support the development of students' study habits, time management, and organisational skills. Promote positive behaviour and uphold high standards of discipline and uniform in all settings. Participate in pastoral meetings and contribute to the wider wellbeing programmes (e.g., PSHE, study skills). Deliver and support student‐led clubs and ECAs. Communication and Collegiality Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on student progress and strategies for home support. Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop curriculum plans, share best practices, and ensure consistency of teaching standards. Contribute to departmental and staff meetings, school improvement initiatives, and professional learning communities. Liaise with external examination boards and maintain up‐to‐date awareness of assessment changes. Uphold Invictus International School's professional reputation through positive engagement with the school community. Administrative and Professional Responsibilities Maintain appropriate teaching load and meet all reporting deadlines. Ensure lesson plans, assessments, and resources are properly documented and stored. Participate in classroom observations and ongoing professional development activities. Support cover supervision and other duties as required by the Head of Department or Senior Leadership Team. Undertake other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Principal or Assistant Principal (Academic). PERSON SPECIFICATION Education, Training and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related discipline. Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification (QTS preferred). Familiarity with the Cambridge IGCSE and A Level Economics curriculum. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Knowledge and Experience Minimum two years' teaching experience in an international or British curriculum school. Demonstrated success in preparing students for external examinations (IGCSE/A Level). Experience teaching students for whom English is an additional language (EAL). Understanding of the use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning. Up‐to‐date knowledge of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures. Reflective practitioner with a commitment to continuous improvement. Other Requirements A clean Enhanced DBS (UK) or international police clearance. Commitment to the Invictus ethos of integrity, respect, and lifelong learning. Willingness to contribute to co‐curricular programmes and the wider life of the school.
