The Lending business of Wealth offers a diverse product range including Securities Backed Lending (SBL), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Aircraft, and Art-backed Finance, along with tailored solutions for Private Bank clients. Wealth Credit Management (WCM) is integral to credit risk management, ensuring best-in-class risk and controls, and maintaining client responsiveness.
Key responsibilities include credit analysis, documentation, risk identification, exposure monitoring, and associated administration with Citi Global Wealth lending activities. Within WCM, the Wealth Credit Management Underwriter manages a portfolio of clients with lending requirements, typically fully collateralized against investment portfolios, CRE, Aircraft, Art Collection, or Illiquid Listed Stocks. The candidate should be a credit professional who contributes to the directional strategy of the Private Banking Lending business, with basic commercial awareness for lending transactions and good communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external customers.
In this role, you’re expected to:
Assist Lending Advisors with preparing Credit Greenlight memos (as applicable).
Strong knowledge of Citi’s Credit Policies, Product Programs, and Citi Policies.
Underwrite credit applications with appropriate risk-return characteristics per Citi's standards.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of Credit Applications.
Financial Analysis including cash flow statements.
Collateral Evaluation covering various asset classes.
Provide In-Business Credit Risk Approval on credit applications.
Prepare and negotiate credit documentation and conduct annual reviews.
Monitor compliance to facility covenants and approval conditions.
Assist in Portfolio Management, including Annual Credit Reviews and related system maintenance.
Recognize problems and assist with classified loans remedial management.
Support Business Partners in margin call/limit excess deferrals and approvals.
Assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup and its clients.
This is a senior credit underwriter role, requiring extensive experience with complex credit transactions in Wealth.
Participate and lead strategic projects and team tasks.
Provide ongoing training and development for junior team members.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have:
Min 10 years of experience.
Proven analytical, financial structuring, and execution skills.
Experience as a credit officer.
In-depth knowledge of Financial Analysis and cash flow modelling.
Ability to articulate complex issues clearly to stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Good negotiation skills.
Strong initiative in problem-solving.
Flexibility and independence in a demanding environment.
Dependable team player.
Education:
Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
