Position Reports To:
Weave Production Manager.
Position Overview:
The Flag Technician repairs air jet weave machinery by diagnosing faults and using tools to correct mechanical failures. Identifies cloth and machine defects and corrects them. The Flag Technician completes one light inspection on each assigned machine per shift. The Flag Technician works on a rotating 8-hour shift.
Job Responsibilities
Respond to machine quality and performance flags identified by weavers and/or plant supervision.
Troubleshoot weave machine issues.
Identify and correct fabric and machine defects.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Obtain/complete maintenance work orders.
Perform other duties as required.
Job Specific Requirements
Able to successfully progress through Kingsley technician classroom and on-the-job training as expected.
Able to correctly identify defects and machine issues, document, and ensure issues are addressed.
Self-directed with minimal supervision.
Skills – Required
Proficient in the current senior operator position
Must be proficient in relief weaving prior to starting classroom tech training
Ability to read and write and follow directions
Basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
Good communication skills
Strong discipline
Good organization skills
Machines, Tools And Equipment Used
Airjet weave machine (all types)
Reed hook, leno hook, scissors, flashlight
Yarn, both dyed and greige fabric
US and metric tools of all types
PC Computer/BARCO
Steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, LOTO equipment
Physical Requirements
Standing: ability to stand while working 90% of the day
Sitting: ability to sit 5% of the day
Moving: navigate a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors (approximately 80% of day)
Reaching/Lifting: reach 8” to 24" to grasp packages weighing 8–25 lb; lift rollers 100 lb with assistance; lift 30 lb take up motors and 40 lb let-off motors as needed (60% of day)
Climbing: step up/down on weaving platform (10" and 5" off ground) (40% of day)
Push/Pull/Reach: reach 12” to 48” to grasp warp yarn ends; operate reed hook through heddle and reed
Bending: bend and stoop to effect repairs; work at Staubli head panel; crawl to change cables/valves (30% of day)
Walking: walk through the plant on concrete surfaces (70% of day)
Dexterity: tie knots and draw ends in fine denier yarns
Visual Acuity: identify defects in fabric on machine and in swatches; read draw graphs and instructions (40% of day)
Work Environment: operate in cotton dust environment; comply with cotton pulmonary function requirements; wear approved PPE; work around moving parts (100% of day)
Work Environment: follow defined break schedule and maintain regular attendance (100% of day)
Other: prioritize job functions to maximize production; understand mechanical systems and troubleshoot; comply with safety, attendance and other job specifications (100% of day)
Shift Requirements
1st Shift: 8 AM – 4 PM
2nd Shift: 4 PM – 12 AM
3rd Shift: 12 AM – 8 AM
