Senior Commercial Counsel – APJ – Datadog The Legal team supports Datadog’s rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across the organization, from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts, to protecting Datadog's offerings. The Commercial, Alliances & Procurement Legal team focuses on commercial engagements, channel & alliances agreements, procurement matters and related legal topics. This opportunity provides a chance to play a critical role in the success of a rapidly growing and innovative SaaS company in the APJ region. In this role, you will develop your negotiation and communication skills in support of sophisticated SaaS deals, while influencing and refining Datadog’s business and operational policies. As a customer‑facing role, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as sales, deal desk, procurement, privacy, customer trust, and product legal, acting as a trusted advisor known for providing strong solutions and practical advice. Exposure to cutting‑edge SaaS technology areas such as privacy, security, and AI/ML is also provided. What You’ll Do Review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and ancillary documents such as DPAs to support customer sales and partners. Partner with a seasoned legal team to provide practical and decisive guidance to internal business teams. Coach sales team members on strategies for negotiating with customers, including delivery of regular internal training sessions. Support the ongoing improvement of our contract templates in line with emerging laws and regulations across the APJ region, along with associated playbooks and processes, and advise on compliance issues in the region. Collaborate with other teams within Legal and across the company to accelerate revenue generation and reduce risk by translating business needs to contractual commitments and legal advice. Liaise with and advise other Datadog stakeholders across the APJ region, including those in Deal Desk, People/HR, and Procurement. Who You Are A seasoned qualified attorney with at least 10 years’ law firm and/or in‑house commercial transactional experience in the APJ region, including familiarity with negotiating SaaS contracts and related technology areas (privacy, information security, intellectual property). Fluent in English and ideally another regional language, with excellent communication skills in both languages. Someone who thrives in negotiating, communicating, and educating. Someone with integrity, excellent judgment, and a high degree of emotional intelligence; prepared to build strong collaboration channels with peers and stakeholders across the business and identify pathways to success with our customers. Comfortable working independently, adhering to established processes, and able to recognize when you need guidance. Excited to drive contracts to closure and comfortable partnering with clients in sales, prioritizing multiple deals simultaneously while supporting tight deadlines. Able to work out of our Singapore or Sydney office and be the first local point of contact for the Legal Department. Datadog values people from all walks of life.
