Engineer / Lead Engineer, Sensors and AI Solutioning, S&S CoE

What the role is: The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovative solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. We are looking for an aspiring candidate with a passion for problem solving and solution development to join the Sense‐making and Surveillance Centre of Expertise (S&S CoE) as Sensor & IoT Engineer. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team responsible for designing, developing and deploying Sensors and IoT solutions to transform real‐world data into actionable insights for decision making. He/She should be familiar with embedded systems, wireless communication and software development for Sensors and IoT solutions. What you will be working on: Research and experiment with emerging Sensors and IoT technologies/trends to identify new opportunities or threats in the area of sense‐making and surveillance. Design and implement end‐to‐end sensor and IoT solutions for on‐prem and cloud‐based platforms. Implement data collection, storage and analytics solutions to manage, process and analyse data generated by sensor and IoT devices. Test, debug, and troubleshoot sensor and IoT systems to identify and resolve issues related to performance, network connectivity or data transmission. Work closely with stakeholders, including engagement managers, product teams and project managers, as part of the solution delivery to ensure user requirements are met. What we are looking for: A Bachelor/Master's degree in Electrical/Software Engineering or Computer Science. Additional certifications or specialized courses in IoT or sensor technologies will be advantageous. 0–8 years of experience working with Sensors and IoT solutions, including using C/C++, Python or JavaScript to develop IoT applications, firmware or software interfaces. Experience with web development frameworks and RESTful APIs is advantageous. Experience with different sensor technologies and/or edge computing devices such as Nvidia Jetson, Arduino or Raspberry‐PI. Knowledge of networking principles and communication protocols (e.g., Wi‐Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, NB‐IoT), and ability to configure and troubleshoot network connections. Ability to interface and integrate different sensors into a cohesive solution with a backend software stack. Proficient in data analysis and visualization using tools such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib or platforms like Tableau and Qlik. Knowledge of IoT security best practices and common security threats to ensure data privacy, integrity and authentication. Ability to communicate technical concepts and conduct demos in a clear and effective manner to stakeholders of varying technical background. Ability to work collaboratively with cross‐functional teams. All new hires are appointed on a two‐year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
