Overview What the role is: As an Assistant Engineer, you may be deployed to one of PUB’s five Operations Departments to manage and develop Singapore’s water resources: Catchment & Waterways (C&W): Plan, develop and manage reservoirs and waterways for water supply and flood control; integrate with the surrounding environment in a sustainable manner. Water Supply (Plants) (WSP): Provide an adequate and reliable supply of potable water at the most economical cost; operate and maintain Water Treatment Plants and Desalination Plants to produce safe drinking water to meet daily demands. Water Supply (Network) (WSN): Deliver good water to businesses and end-users 24/7; manage and keep water demand low through network optimisation, maintenance and renewal, as well as network planning and data management. Water Reclamation (Plants) (WRP): Treat all used water to a quality suitable for NEWater or Industrial Water and for safe discharge to the sea; may be deployed to PUB’s Water Reclamation Plants in Jurong, Ulu Pandan, Kranji or Changi. Water Reclamation (Network) (WRN): Collect and convey used water for reclamation cost effectively and reliably through planning & design of sewerage infrastructures, network operation and maintenance, and project management. Responsibilities Support plant operations and maintenance of equipment Field work as first responders to incidents on-site at installations/customers’ premises, providing on-site investigation, troubleshooting and resolution Attend and manage customer feedback pertaining to water supply or drainage matters Carry out routine inspections of drainage network systems within flood-sensitive areas Patrol reservoirs, catchment areas, pumping stations, dams, intake towers, infrastructures, and pipelines, and other areas as required Assist engineers in budgeting of projects, and in preparation works leading to tender calling of projects Assist engineers in project management work During the course of work, may be required to work closely with departments, consultants, contractors and other public agencies Qualifications Diploma in Engineering (e.g., Civil/Environmental, Mechanical and Electrical as well as other relevant disciplines)Able to work well independently and in teams Good communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, can-do attitude Competent in basic computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Successful applicants will be contacted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting About PUB PUB is an organisation recognised internationally for good water management.
