Global Licensing and Regulatory Director

Global Licensing and Regulatory Director We are supporting a rapidly scaling, technology-led financial services platform undergoing its next phase of international market entry. This is a senior, execution-focused role tasked with building and delivering the firm’s market entry and licensing strategy globally. Initial priorities are centered on key Asian financial hubs and selected growth corridors, with the remit expanding as new products and geographies are introduced. The position works closely with commercial, product, and operational leadership to ensure regulatory pathways are aligned with business objectives. Key Responsibilities Own and execute the organization’s multi‑jurisdiction licensing strategy, prioritizing key Asian markets while planning for future expansion. Translate business growth plans into regulatory pathways, sequencing licenses, approvals, and permissions in line with commercial objectives. Develop forward‑looking licensing roadmaps aligned to new products, markets, and partnership models. Act as the central point of coordination for regulator engagement, application strategy, and ongoing regulatory dialogue. Lead complex, multi‑stakeholder licensing projects involving legal, compliance, product, operations, and external advisors. Anticipate regulatory friction points and proactively design solutions that balance speed‑to‑market with regulatory credibility. Partner closely with senior business leaders to ensure licensing decisions support revenue models, partner strategies, and go‑to‑market plans. Provide pragmatic regulatory input to product and commercial discussions, enabling compliant innovation rather than blocking growth. Assess trade‑offs between jurisdictions, license scopes, and operational models with a commercial mindset. Work across internal teams (product, tech, risk, legal, operations) to align licensing requirements with execution realities. Manage external stakeholders including regulators, advisors, legal counsel, and strategic partners. Influence senior leadership through clear, structured regulatory insights and risk‑based recommendations. Requirements Proven experience leading multi‑jurisdiction licensing or regulatory expansion within payments, fintech, digital assets, or adjacent regulated financial services. Strong understanding of Asian regulatory landscapes, with hands‑on exposure to at least one major financial hub and working knowledge of regional regulatory differences. Demonstrated ability to run complex regulatory projects end‑to‑end, from strategy through approval and implementation. Entrepreneurial in approach, able to think beyond compliance execution to design licensing and market‑entry strategies that are tightly aligned with product evolution, commercial models, and the firm’s future growth trajectory. Strong commercial acumen: able to align regulatory outcomes with business growth, partnerships, and product strategy. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging regulators and influencing senior internal decision‑makers. If you’re a seasoned compliance leader who thrives at the intersection of innovation, regulation, and global growth we’d love to connect. Send your CV to for a confidential discussion.
