Senior Transport Energy Data Analyst

Overview
Senior Transport Energy Data Analyst. This role is based in Singapore with a focus on shaping new policies in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Responsibilities
Being a key part of the Singapore and Trends & Analysis team, focusing on Transport Energy’s analytical work on transport energy sources including oil, gas, biofuels, hydrogen, synthetic fuels, biogas, electricity and other transport energy types; act as one of T&E’s key energy experts.
Analyzing and dissecting data and complex policy issues from sources such as scientific studies, reports and models used to shape global policy; develop understanding from environmental, economic and societal perspectives.
Developing briefings and inputs into advocacy and campaign materials based on robust data, evidence and argumentation to reduce the climate impact of the transport sector.
Advocating T&E’s position to policymakers at national, regional and international levels (ICAO, IMO), politicians, business leaders, civil society actors and our international network.
Converting large data sets or complex policy implications into clear, robust charts.
Carrying out technical analyses related to biomass, biofuels and renewable fuels of non-biological origin in Excel and Python-based models, and translating findings into accessible data visualizations and policy messages.
Qualifications
Proven (7+ years) expertise in and knowledge of the energy system, alternative fuel production and/or biofuel supply chains. Job title and salary will reflect previous experience.
Strong analytical skills, ability to quickly grasp technical issues, assess data, and good knowledge of Excel or other modelling tools.
Relevant professional experience working on technical issues in the environmental or energy sectors, or in a research institution; exceptions may be made for highly talented starters.
Project management experience including strong interpersonal and team-working skills and ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to write in English fluently, accurately and concisely. Other Asian languages are considered a bonus.
The confidence to think and act with initiative, to engage and influence policymakers of different stripes, industry representatives and other stakeholders at the highest level.
Desirable skills
Experience working closely with stakeholders in Asia-Pacific countries.
Expertise to strengthen the role such as understanding fuel markets and economics, knowledge of land use emissions and agriculture.
Asian languages (e.g. Mandarin, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean) are considered a bonus.
Project management experience including strong interpersonal and team-working skills and a track record in delivering to tight deadlines.
Practicalities
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Singapore. While we offer a very flexible working environment, the successful candidate will be expected to spend at least 3 days per week in the office.
