Job Title: Nursery Teaching Assistant
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our Junior School team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning, growth, and well-being in a dynamic and caring environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the class teacher to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment that promotes children's holistic growth. They will assist in managing daily routines, classroom transitions, and educational activities, as well as anticipating and meeting the organisational needs of the class.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to adapt to the needs of the class and wider school community. They will also have a strong understanding of child development and be able to promote students' pastoral well-being in collaboration with teachers and the Junior School Management Team.
Responsibilities:
- Pastoral Care: Demonstrate a positive, nurturing, and supportive attitude towards every student, promote students' pastoral well-being, and supervise students in line with the school's behaviour and discipline policies.
- Curriculum Support: Engage children in meaningful play and interactions that support language development and deeper thinking, foster curiosity and a love of learning through creative and stimulating activities, and collaborate with class teachers to plan, deliver, and review developmentally appropriate lessons.
- Organisation: Assist in managing daily routines, classroom transitions, and educational activities, anticipate and meet the organisational needs of the class, prepare learning materials and resources, and liaise with parents on organisational matters when needed.
- Classroom Environment: Work with the class teacher to create a welcoming, engaging, and well-organised learning environment, support with setting up and clearing away equipment, displays, and learning materials, and encourage students to take responsibility for their classroom and resources.
- Communication: Provide regular feedback to teachers on educational and pastoral matters, communicate confidently with colleagues across all key stages, and support communication with parents, responding to queries and ensuring they receive timely information.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a relevant Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) qualification (L2/L3 or equivalent).
- Prior experience supporting children aged 2–3 years, preferably in an international or British curriculum setting.
- Knowledge of the EYFS or similar early years frameworks is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a passion for working with young children.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
