Overview AI Engineer (AIAP) for AI Singapore (Innovation) role at National University of Singapore. The AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) is a flagship AISG programme to groom local AI talent and enhance career skills in AI-related fields. The programme office is hosted by NUS and collaborates with Singapore-based research institutions and the AI ecosystem to perform use-inspired research, develop tools, and grow talent to power Singapore's AI efforts. The AIAP team is seeking a driven AI Engineer to execute programmes and lead AI-based projects for internal and external stakeholders, and to spearhead innovative initiatives including the development of cutting-edge AI technologies. Responsibilities Drive and work on tasks from AIAP and related programmes, including AIAP (Industry), LADP and AIIP. Perform AI-based research, development and maintenance of AIAP technologies. Lead solution development for AI-based projects, including AI projects from AIEH and internal developments. Train and mentor AI apprentices during Deep-skilling and Project phases, and other umbrella programmes. Plan, prepare and execute the AIAP recruitment stages. Maintain, update and enhance the AIAP syllabus. Support AI Singapore’s industry and community-building activities by contributing to talks, seminars, workshops, journals and other outreach programmes. Qualifications Degree in a field with a quantitative focus (computer science, information systems, data science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, operations research, econometrics or related fields). At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing AI/ML solutions in a corporate or research setting. Production deployments and integration/testing experience are advantageous. Preference for candidates with Generative AI and Large Language Models (Prompt Engineering and Finetuning) experience. Solid understanding of machine learning/deep learning fundamentals. Ability to explain mathematical aspects of common algorithms for computer vision/NLP/tabular data. Hands-on experience with Python-based AI/ML frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn) and clean coding practices. Experience with Git, Docker; Linux environments and CI/CD exposure are a plus. Familiarity with MLOps toolkits for productivity, tracking and reproducibility is beneficial. Aptitude for data storytelling, visualization and technical communications; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Team player with mentoring interest and collaborative problem-solving mindset. Self-learner with curiosity and attention to detail.
