Elementary School Learning Support Teacher We are inviting interested applicants who are good team players, enthusiastic, service-orientated, and professionally competent to join our dedicated team. REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal SUPERVISES: Volunteers as needed JOB DESCRIPTION: The Learning Support Teacher provides quality instruction and support to identified students. Student support is provided through consultation with teachers to recommend specific strategies and accommodations (Level 1 support), classroom push-in/co-teaching with the homeroom teacher (Level 2 support), and more intensive one-on-one support for students with higher support needs (Level 3 support). He/She is responsible for collaborating with colleagues to plan and implement support strategies and accommodations for all classes, in alignment with the school's learning standards and objectives. He/She also closely monitors student progress, provides timely feedback to students and other teachers, and consistently communicates student progress to parents so that students' learning growth is maximized. This includes learning support meetings with parents to review each student's learning support plan and learning accommodations and make adjustments as needed. The Learning Support Teacher is also responsible for the supervision of students during recess/lunch duties as needed/required. The Learning Support Teacher demonstrates Christian character through kindness, grace, and integrity, creating a nurturing space for students. LEARNING SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with classroom teachers and principal(s) to identify and assess students exhibiting learning needs in the classroom, following the school's learning support referral process and Response to Intervention (RTI) procedures Identify curricular and instructional goals for Level 1, 2, and 3 learning support students Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and maintain student records; update LSPs each year Observe Level 1 students in various general education classes regularly Meet with Level 2 students regularly, according to needs and classroom schedules Meet with teachers regularly to support students in the classroom through behavioral approaches and accommodations based on observation and documentation of student learning needs Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure student plans and needs are fulfilled Communicate and collaborate with teachers to help learning support students reach their goals and achieve success in all curricular classes (special emphasis on Math and English Language Arts)Strategically co-plan and intentionally co-teach with classroom teachers, implementing various models of co-teaching to support students in the general education classroom Read, file, and distribute (where appropriate) psycho-educational evaluations and documentation regarding academic needs for students Collaborate with the Admissions Team and principal(s) to screen incoming students requiring academic support services Complete referral forms for students transferring to new schools or requiring input for psycho-educational evaluations Collaborate with school counselors, as needed, to provide documentation for student accommodations for College Board assessments Communicate with parents, students, and other professional staff regarding student progress (behavioral and academic)Collaborate with classroom teachers and principals to determine appropriate behavior plans for students in the classroom Plan and write Learning Support Plan (LSPs) including semester updates and accommodations necessary for students to meet their goals Meet with parents, teachers, and administrators (as appropriate) to approve Learning Support Plan (LSPs) for students (yearly)CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES: Relate instructional objectives to student needs. Plan, prepare and execute appropriate lessons, utilizing appropriate resource materials and activities to meet student needs Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child as stated in the IC's mission statement Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises utilizing developmentally appropriate discipline plans. Consistent consequences are expected except in extenuating circumstances Affect student learning through mastery of the subject material by utilizing research-based teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Attend and participate in devotions, teachers' meetings, evening programs if involving his or her students or as requested by the administration and other meetings as assigned Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned Participate in Chapel and Service Learning activities with students Perform supervisory duty as assigned (before school, break, lunch, after school)Maintain a clean and educationally stimulating classroom environment Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of students' progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure Submit all reports to the administration, guidance office, school office, etc., as required by school regulations or as requested Work with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school Complete professional programs as required by the administration and/or IC's Board Maintain teaching credentials as required by sponsoring agency (state/provincial education department, ACSI, etc.). Acquire teaching credentials as required by the laws of Singapore, NICS and/or IC Complete the Christian Philosophy of Education (CPoE) in-service program within the first two years of teaching at IC Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration Respectfully submit and demonstrate loyalty to constituted authority Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste and in agreement with school policy QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (exceptions to be approved by the Academic Review Board)Teaching credential from a state or from ACSI (exceptions will be approved by the Academic Board)Experience working with students with special needs Knowledge of specific subject(s)Interested candidates with the above qualifications and experience, please forward your resume and cover letter to: All applications will be treated strictly confidential, and only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
