Overview As a Service Engineer with expertise in steel work, you will be responsible for supervising the structural steel repairs, including welding, fabrication, and modifications on Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessels and hatch covers on container vessels and bulk carriers. You will ensure that all steelwork adheres to industry standards and vessel safety regulations, while leading a team of engineers and subcontractors. This role requires in-depth knowledge of steel structures and the capability to manage projects efficiently and safely, ensuring high-quality service for MacGregor and third-party products when necessary. Responsibilities Steel Work Supervision: Supervise structural steel repairs, including welding, fabrication, and modifications on RoRo vessels, container vessels, and bulk carriers, ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards. Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance, corrective actions, and upgrades on MacGregor equipment, including RoRo ramps, doors, and hatches. Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of steel structures and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Project Management: Lead and manage subcontractors during larger steel repair projects, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget. Customer Support: Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers, providing technical support and feedback to the relevant teams. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards and site-specific safety protocols. What you’ll need to succeed Education Diploma in Marine Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification in mechanical, marine, or steel fabrication fields. Engineering graduates are encouraged to apply Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervising steelwork, particularly with RoRo/Hatch Cover systems or in marine environments. Strong background in mechanical, hydraulic, and steel structures is essential. Experience working in ports, onboard ships, and offshore environments is preferred. Competencies Proficient in welding and steel fabrication techniques, with supervisory experience. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to lead teams and manage projects independently. Fluent in English; multilingual skills are an asset. Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
