Responsibilities
Configure, program, and update Siemens and/or Rockwell PLCs to meet project requirements for tunnel and highway control systems.
Perform on-site I/O checks, PLC program validation, and support commissioning activities.
Ensure field I/O (sensors, actuators, safety devices) are correctly wired and communicating; troubleshoot PLC-related issues during testing and commissioning.
Collaborate with the software/SCADA team to test and verify PLC communications and control logic interfaces with external systems, including legacy interfaces.
Oversee and validate the configuration of industrial networks and remote I/O modules for robust PLC system communication; ensure network reliability and compliance with project standards.
Document PLC configurations, logic changes, and test results; provide feedback to software engineers and electrical engineers.
Collaborate in cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the PLC layer with tunnel/highway control systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or a related field.
Experience with Siemens or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (programming and troubleshooting).
Proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000 for PLC programming, debugging, and testing.
Strong understanding of PLC architecture and hardware design, including remote I/O racks and distributed control; experience with tunnel subsystems is a plus.
Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus (RTU/TCP) and Profinet; ability to diagnose PLC-to-field-device and PLC-to-SCADA communications.
Experience in on-site I/O checks, functional testing, and commissioning of automation systems; ability to read electrical schematics and use testing tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; ability to work with software engineers, system integrators, and site contractors under time constraints.
Additional Information
This role is based in Singapore and involves on-site work at local road tunnel and highway facilities; safety protocols apply.
Some testing and commissioning may occur during off-peak hours or overnight.
Mid-level to experienced automation professionals; ability to work independently and coordinate with teams.
Strong communication skills to collaborate between PLC/hardware and software/SCADA teams.
