Description Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aged Care (West Coast)Location: Lyell House, West Coast District Hospital – Queenstown, Tasmania. The West Coast District Hospital is located in the mountainous town of Queenstown, the heart of Tasmania's West Coast. The Role As Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aged Care, you will be the clinical lead for Lyell House, the residential aged care facility at West Coast District Hospital. You will collaborate with nursing, medical, and allied health professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, high‐quality, person‐centred care aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and promote best practice aged care nursing and geriatric medicine. Act as Infection Control Lead for WCDH, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols and supporting staff education and monitoring. Conduct comprehensive assessments and care plans in collaboration with residents, families, guardians, and the broader health team. Provide expert clinical advice and act as a resource for staff across all aspects of aged care. Support quality improvement, clinical risk management, and compliance activities. Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator to plan and oversee resident activities. Assist the NUM and DON with documentation, reporting, policy development, and admission processes. Support education and professional development in aged care nursing in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Educator. Qualifications Advanced knowledge and assessment skills in aged care nursing and geriatric medicine. Proven leadership ability and influence to mentor staff and drive clinical initiatives. Experience in infection prevention and control practices, with ability to lead compliance in a residential setting. Background in quality improvement, policy development, and compliance with aged care legislation and standards. Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams and with families, carers, and external providers. Comprehensive understanding of the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Quality Standards, and mandatory reporting requirements. Appointment Details Permanent, full‐time, day worker. Working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with successful applicant. For a period of twelve months from publication, the selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies. Salary $114,851 to $121,886 per annum, plus a 12 % superannuation contribution. Salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Allowances (on the salaried incremental point) may be available: Post‐Graduate Allowance up to 10 % based on qualification type.
