What you will be working on

As an Engineering Manager / Principal Software Engineer, be responsible for technical direction and processes to grow the GoBusiness platform ( – a key touchpoint for Government-to-Business (G2B) transactions; drive the design, implementation & delivery of the platform’s products.
Your responsibilities
Defining your team’s engineering vision, strategy, and directions that align with the organization’s overall vision and goals.
Staying on top of industry developments and being highly proficient in how systems should be architected, engineered, and maintained.
Implementing systems using bespoke, COTS, or SaaS solutions across the enterprise; experience with cloud technologies and IT transformation programs.
Partnering with stakeholders and agencies to prioritize and manage roadmaps for delivering toward product vision incrementally and efficiently.
Creating a long-term technical plan and roadmap for the assigned team, and for other teams as needed; updating the roadmap to meet future product/business needs and infrastructure requirements.
Mentoring engineers, providing feedback and guidance to support performance and growth.
Collaborating with cross-functional partners to develop quality, reliability, and security strategies within your team.
Identifying and initiating engineering initiatives to maximize impact on the public good.
Establishing practices and tools to foster a strong engineering culture and maximize effectiveness and impact.
Supporting recruitment, particularly for senior hires.
What we are looking for
Experience working on reasonably large, high-availability software systems that have operated at scale.
Technically hands-on with experience across the technology stack: client side, back end, infrastructure, performance, data, and more.
Experience in full-stack development and building end-to-end systems including UIs, APIs, backend, and databases.
Proficiency in Agile, modular design, pair programming, software automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
Experience with modern full-stack web technologies (React, Angular, Spring Boot, Django) and knowledge of cloud technology (e.g., AWS); Generative AI model familiarity is a plus.
Strong leadership mindset with emphasis on soft skills and teamwork beyond technical prowess.
Passion for engineering excellence and working for the public good.
Ability to guide a team to achieve important goals collaboratively.
Minimum 5+ years of development experience in a digital product environment; 2+ years of experience coaching developers and supporting their growth.
