Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Art History

Overview Young, research intensive, and outward-looking NTU Singapore is ranked among the world's top universities. The School of Humanities (SoH) combines high-quality research and teaching with practical engagement, with a focus on Digital Humanities, Medical Humanities, Environmental Humanities and Global Asia. SoH is part of NTU's College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS), a leading centre for innovative interdisciplinary Humanities, Arts and Social Science research in Asia. Art History at SoH equips students with knowledge and critical awareness of global art histories, taught through lectures, seminars, field trips, practical projects, and encounters with practitioners. Students are trained in methods and writing about art, with a range of specialisations. SoH offers Singapore's only undergraduate double major in Art History, as well as graduate degrees including MA (Research) and PhD in Art History. Students at undergraduate and graduate levels are encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary studies and independent research. Position Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Art History SoH invites outstanding academics to apply for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Art History. Applications are welcome from academics working in any area of art history, with emphasis on Asian art histories (East Asian, South Asian, and/or West Asian), Islamic world art histories, and histories of global contemporary art. The successful candidate will conduct art-historical research and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as leadership and service duties, at a level aligned with a research-intensive university. The candidate will receive a generous Start-Up Grant to support their research and publications, and will be encouraged to secure competitive research grants via SoH, CoHASS, and other organizations. There will be opportunities to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to the candidate's research areas. Responsibilities Conduct art-historical research and publish in relevant outlets. Teach and supervise at undergraduate and graduate levels, including course development where appropriate. Engage in leadership and service activities within SoH, CoHASS, and the university as applicable to a research-intensive institution. Requirements Successful candidates should have a track record of excellence appropriate to the position level in research, teaching, and publication. Requirements at all levels include: A PhD in art history or a related field. Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by a strong publication record and a clear plan for future high-quality publications. Demonstrated capacity to deliver excellent teaching. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Requirements at the Associate Professor and Full Professor level include: Recognition in the research community (e.g., invited talks, awards, or professional society memberships). Proven ability to secure research funding. Contributed to curriculum development. Strong track record in supervising students, research staff, postdocs, and mentoring junior faculty.
