Singapore Badminton Association – SINGLES HEAD COACH
The Singapore Badminton Association is inviting applications for the position of Singapore Badminton Singles Head Coach. We aim to enhance our current singles programme through the recruitment of an internationally recognised Head Coach, focusing on the development and growth of our singles programme. This full-time position is dedicated to driving Singapore’s Singles strategy toward further international success, building on recent achievements on the world stage. The successful candidate will join the existing Singles Coaching team, supported by the High Performance Team and Singapore Sports Institute sport scientists.
Responsibilities:
Lead the planning and delivery of the annual and weekly training and competition plan for Singapore National Singles players.
Work in conjunction with the Assistant Coach, National Training Squad (NTS) Coaches, and Junior Performance Program (JPP) Coaches in technical leadership of a Singapore Singles strategy to produce world-class Singles players.
Ensure that training and competition programmes for Singapore’s Singles players are well managed and reflective of progressive athlete development needs.
Collaborate closely with the High Performance Team in managing the training environment and overall management of the Singles performance programme.
Create a strong emphasis on team culture and discipline that aligns with programme targets.
Develop strong relationships with Singapore Sports Institute staff to provide appropriate sports science support programmes tailored to athletes' development and performance objectives.
Coach Singapore National players at international tournaments as required.
Report to the Technical Director.
Other Duties:
To undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Technical Director.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience coaching within a National Team structure with a primary focus on Singles.
A proven record of success in developing world-class players and performances at top-level tournaments.
A clear understanding of annual planning and periodisation principles in badminton and their application to developing players.
BWF Level 1 or 2 qualification or equivalent preferred.
Strong communication skills; fluency in English is essential.
Ability to create a motivating training environment.
Knowledge of using sport science to enhance athlete performance.
General Information:
The role will be based in Singapore on a full-time contract basis. The Singles Head Coach shall report to the SBA Technical Director.
