About the team

RisingWave Cloud team is responsible for building and managing our fully managed cloud service. This service allows users to effortlessly engage in cloud-based stream processing without the challenges of deploying and maintaining their own infrastructure. We are a collaborative and innovative team, focused on delivering a reliable, scalable, and user-friendly cloud-native streaming database.

About the role

As a Software Engineer Intern on the RisingWave Cloud team, you will have the unique opportunity to work at the forefront of stream processing technology. You will contribute to the development and enhancement of our cloud platform, gaining hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed systems. This role is ideal for a proactive and curious student who is eager to learn and make a tangible impact on a fast-growing open-source project and its commercial cloud offering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the cloud engineering team to design, develop, and test new features for the RisingWave Cloud platform.
  • Assist in managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure for high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Contribute to the implementation of cloud technologies and solutions within our cloud environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to our cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.
  • Help develop and improve automation for deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks.
  • Contribute to technical documentation for internal and external use.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Rust, Python, C++, or Java.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Knowledge of networking and security principles in a cloud environment.
