Head of Middle Office – Private Banking

Our client, a leading Asian financial institution with strong regional presence, is seeking an experienced professional to lead its Middle Office team in Singapore, supporting its growing Private Banking franchise. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to headquarters in Taiwan, managing a team of four and working closely with front, back office, and control functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Middle Office function for Private Banking in Singapore, ensuring smooth operational support across trade support, risk & control, and treasury/operations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with head office in Taiwan, coordinating and negotiating on operational matters and control requirements.
  • Oversee and review daily processes including trade booking, settlements, cash & securities reconciliation, and control reporting.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen risk management framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (MAS, international standards).
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a team of four middle office professionals, ensuring high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and control.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Compliance, Finance, and Operations to ensure end-to-end process alignment and support business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • At least 10–15 years of middle office / operations experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, or relevant financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of private banking products (FX, equities, fixed income, funds, structured products) and associated operational processes.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work with senior management both locally and across HQ.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is highly advantageous due to frequent interaction with Taiwan head office.
