Singapore EOS DEFENCE SYSTEMS PTE. LTD. Full time

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a leadership role within EOS Defence Systems (EOS DS) and is responsible for solving problems using disciplined engineering techniques (e.g. software, mechanical, electronics, system, testing etc) to enable the development of baselined and software designs that support the product development and product goals of EOS DS.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer exercises in-depth engineering technical knowledge within or across specialist disciplines and the ability to enable strategic alignment. Adherence to governance and standards and mobilising people to achieve business outcomes with the appropriate levels of integrity, safety and ethics is critical to the role.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer exercises initiative and judgement in the interpretation and application of policy and procedures. The Senior Mechanical Engineer may lead a small team and is responsible for managing, developing, and guiding staff to achieve their full potential. They provide a high level of support to their team, in consultation with senior leadership, suggest staffing and workflow priorities, and monitor and manage performance, health, and wellbeing.
Primary Duties:
Specific Functions & Tasks
Lead and support a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the timely and professional delivery of project outcomes.
Produce mechanical designs that enable and satisfy defined requirements in the specified time frames.
Work with systems engineers to ensure that all requirements are identified, captured, and analysed.
Work with project engineers to ensure design solutions are delivered on time and on budget and meet identified requirements.
Develop, review, update, modify, and approve mechanical design plans and work schedules.
Prepare and review all documentation required to support designs.
Perform conceptual design, models, and drawings of complex mechanical assemblies.
Perform FEA of models.
Document designs including calculations, design options, and decisions.
Conduct design reviews with the view to endorse mechanical design.
Perform test, evaluation, characterisation, verification & validation of mechanical assemblies in collaboration with Test Engineers.
Prototype mechanical assemblies and systems.
Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive and complete system designs.
Apply DFX principles (manufacturability, testability, excellence).
Outline and assign work, review work for technical accuracy and adequacy and provide guidance and mentorship to the Mechanical Engineers.
Adhere to and ensure understanding and compliance with company procedures to achieve a safe and secure work environment.

Strategy and Architecture
Contribute to and communicate strategy for emerging, new, and current technologies, products, services within Defence Systems and have authority over and accountable for the innovation and delivery practices required to assure the implementation of this strategy.
Assess and enable a high level of leadership and deep industry, defence system knowledge, and systems engineering best practice to maintain competitive advantage, exploit EOS DS technologies and minimise exposure and risk.
Communicate, advocate and influence stakeholders through effective negotiation and communication while fostering an environment of innovation, learning and continuous improvement within and outside the organisation.
Development and implementation of Engineering
Self-initiated and managed under broad direction and governance to be responsible for demonstrably leading self and others to produce designs and products that satisfy defined requirements in the specified time frames and meet group objectives.
Undertake cohesive best practice designs and analysis and develop efficient work practices to support product development activities and business outcomes.
Champion the assessment and use of rigorous development and problem-solving methods to enable safe, secure, and reliable solutions to engineering problems.
Lead and work collaboratively with engineers across functional teams to solve complex problems as a team and ensure all requirements are identified, captured, and analysed such that the design/product can be developed that satisfies the safety, quality, policy, legislative and design authority requirements.
Prepare and review all documentation required to support designs and provide tailored advice and recommendations to teams and decision makers.
Relationship and engagement
Actively listen, share knowledge and experience, provide guidance and mentorship, and work collaboratively to mobilise teams across engineering and other relevant internal and external customers to deliver engineering and business outcomes.
Work with Production Engineers and Technicians to enable and ensure the best design solutions are delivered to solve production problems and obtain business outcomes under the broad direction of the Chief Technology Officer.
Enable EOS Executive, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to ensure design solutions are delivered on time and on budget and meet other project management requirements.
Communicate insights and provide deep engineering judgement for progress and the advancement of sound engineering solutions.
Delivery and operation
Guide the design and execution of user acceptance testing and other verification activities to provide recommendations to the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Engineers and other Design Authorities.
Support production and review manufacturing and supplier requirements to meet specified timeframes, engineering standards, and business outcomes.
