The Role / Responsibilities:
The focus of the role is to support the tax matters of APAC countries with a special focus on VAT/GST and WHT matters. The role is based in Gurgaon, India. The position offers a good opportunity for a candidate with a keen interest in tax to be involved in a wide range of issues, covering APAC countries other than India.Support the tax matters of APAC countries and ensure accurate and timely filing of corporate tax, GST/VAT returns and other statutory tax filings.
Support the tax audits by tax authorities, including preparing/reviewing necessary documentation and responses to audit queries. Work closely with external consultants as required.
Manage timely deposit and posting of tax payments.
Provide tax advice and guidance to internal stakeholders. Conduct tax research and analysis to identify potential tax optimization opportunities and risks. Monitor changes in the business and industry to proactively address tax implications.
Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors, such as auditors and legal counsel, to address tax issues and resolve queries.
Work with other departments (e.g., finance, legal, sales, and operations) to provide tax-related insights and ensure that tax considerations are integrated into broader business processes and decisions.
Manage the tax requirements/documentation related to statutory and internal audits.
Reconcile balances and/or movement as per books with the tax returns.
Work closely with ERP team on tax related configurations/defects/reporting issues in SAP/Vertex.
Identify and implement process improvements, automation/standardization ideas.
Assist the Global Tax Department on an ad-hoc basis with projects and other initiatives.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and regulations to ensure accurate and up-to-date tax advice.
Qualifications:
CA / CPA with 1-4 years of post-qualification tax experience (preferably with a major accounting firm or a large multinational company or shared service centre).
Working experience on VAT/GST matters of APAC countries like Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand would be preferable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
Working experience of extracting data from SAP and preparing GL reconciliation.
Competent written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of various technology tools like Blackline, Alteryx, Power BI, Power Query would be preferable.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment with good interpersonal skills.
Ability to work resiliently under high-pressure situations and within tight deadlines.
Analytic skills, attention to detail, and pro-active approach.
