Remuneration is Academic Level A or Level B ($91,381 - $127,947 per annum, dependent upon experience) pro‐rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Role context The role forms part of UNSW Rural Education Focussed (EF) roles, enabling academics to specialise in education and deliver high‐quality teaching, with a focus on the undergraduate medical course in biomedical sciences and laboratory management at the RCC. Tasks include the set‐up and pack‐down of laboratories, resolution of technical issues, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety and compliance, and supporting students and laboratory processes. A demonstrated interest in rural health education supporting local hospital and community health outcomes is required. The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus and has no direct reports. Key responsibilities Provide teaching in basic biomedical components of the course (e.g., anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, histology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, research methodology and statistics) as required. Demonstrate teaching effectiveness in biomedical sciences with a rural focus. Support and mentor students; manage laboratory setup, equipment, and safety; maintain compliance and documentation, safety records, and inventories. Set up equipment, prepare chemical solutions, develop samples and cultures as required; ensure appropriate laboratory processes and safety procedures are maintained. Coordinate servicing, repairs and replacement of laboratory hardware; use UNSW systems for resourcing and ordering. Additional requirements for Lecturer (Level B)Experience in large and small group teaching; a commitment to teaching excellence and supervision in biomedical sciences. Knowledge of information technologies for education support, including eLearning. Strong communication skills and ability to network with students and staff; collaborative team environment across disciplines. Emerging research interest with peer‐reviewed publications.
