The NPI Engineer is responsible to lead and manage the technical aspects of introducing new sheet metal products into manufacturing, ensuring design-for-manufacture, process optimization, and readiness for volume production. Responsibilities Evaluate 3D models and engineering drawings for manufacturability and collaborate with design or R&D teams to align product requirements with manufacturing capabilities. Develop detailed process flows for fabrication (e.g., cutting, bending, welding, finishing) and validate process parameters and control plans. Run First Article Inspections (FAIs) and Process Capability (CP/CPK) studies. Design or specify jigs, fixtures, and tooling required for forming, welding, or assembly. Coordinate with suppliers for outsourced fixture fabrication. Develop & maintain work instructions, Product BOM & Routing, internal redline drawing, welding documents. Ensure all documentation complies with quality standards and traceability requirements. Identify potential risks in the introduction of new products and implement mitigation plans. Support pilot builds, identify issues, and drive root cause analysis for any quality or process failures. Coordinate prototype fabrication and ensure feedback is captured. Suggest improvements to reduce complexity, cost, or cycle time. Requirements At least a Diploma / Degree in Engineering field. Able to read mechanical drawings. 2 to 5 years' relevant experience performing cost estimation in sheetmetal industry. Familiarity with welding, laser turret, bending processes. Proficient with computers and in using MS word, Excel, Power point. Possess analytical and problem- solving skills, excellent oral and written communications skills for effective communication.
