Cyber Security Engineer (Protection & Consulting)Join to apply for the Cyber Security Engineer (Protection & Consulting)role at Bayer JOB MAIN PURPOSE: This role is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the Connectivity‐Security controls (e.g. Functional Networks, Perimeter) that protect Bayer's computer networks, systems and data from cyberattacks. They work closely with IT teams to identify, assess and mitigate security risks, and they work with ITSM to ensure operational continuity and with cyber incident response to contain the damage from security incidents and prevent future attacks. Your role & responsibilities Designs, implements, and operates cybersecurity solutions for Bayer's Connectivity Security systems and products in compliance with Bayer's applicable security policies and standards. Works with IT and internal and external business partners to ensure that security is factored in the evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration process of hardware and software. Maintains operational efficiency, performance, and reliability of security systems; integrating into IT service management and incident response processes. Analyzes and makes recommendations to improve network, system, and application architectures. Assists in the review and update of cybersecurity policies, architectures, and standards. Assists in responding to audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments. Designs and implements secure infrastructure solutions, including network security, configuration management, based on security policies to prevent unauthorized access. Conducts regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential risks. Align with Cyber Security Architects on ensuring security architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices are implemented into technology. On‐Call. Your key skills & qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in a security engineering role. Desired but not required: CISSP certification. Strong understanding of organizational mission, values, and goals, with the ability to apply this knowledge to daily work. Hands‐on experience with cybersecurity tools and techniques for automation, incident response, and strengthening security posture. Knowledge of relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA), with the ability to assess compliance requirements and implement necessary controls. Strong applied experience with at least several of the following platforms/technologies: Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB): Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Netskope CASB, McAfee/SkyHigh CASB DNS & Threat Protection: Cisco Umbrella, Infoblox, Quad9 enterprise DNS filtering Identity‐aware proxy and Zero Trust platforms: Zscaler ZPA, Google BeyondCorp, Cloudflare Zero Trust Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request Management) and ITSM tools (ServiceNow). Strong working knowledge of current IT risks and practical experience implementing security solutions. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
