Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Sand Play Therapist to join our team. The Sand Play Therapist will utilize the therapeutic use of sand and play to help clients, particularly children, express their emotions, resolve conflicts, and develop coping mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychology or counselling and be skilled in creating a safe and supportive environment for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group sand play therapy sessions with clients of various ages.

  • Assess clients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Utilize sand play techniques to facilitate emotional expression, conflict resolution, and personal growth.

  • Collaborate with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to support clients' therapeutic goals.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including session notes and treatment plans.

  • Stay informed about the latest research and developments in sand play therapy and related fields.

  • Provide education and support to clients' families to help them understand the therapeutic process and how to support their loved ones.

  • Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field.

  • Licensure or certification as a therapist (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred.

  • Specialized training and certification in sand play therapy.

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a therapeutic setting.

  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma, and therapeutic techniques.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create a safe and trusting therapeutic environment.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and supervision.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in sand play therapy techniques and tools.

  • Empathy and sensitivity to clients' needs and emotions.

  • Strong observational and assessment skills.

  • Ability to build rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients.

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $100.00 per hour
