CMA CGM is one of the world’s largest container shipping companies, based in Marseille, France, with a young and diverse fleet of more than 550 vessels. We are seeking a Vessel Manager to join our office in Singapore for this onshore role. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will manage your assigned fleet of vessels, ensuring the ships are in optimal operational readiness with a strong focus on safety, fuel efficiency and lower carbon footprint. Overview Role: Vessel Manager, onshore in Singapore. Reports to: Fleet Manager. Focus: safety, efficiency, and compliance across the assigned vessel fleet. Responsibilities Lead and ensure Safety at all levels Promote and develop a safety mindset onboard and in the office Be an active participant in accident investigations and continuous improvement Participate in the Management of Change culture Aim for Operational Excellence Ensure ships comply at all times with international, flag state, classification society and port state rules and regulations Oversee crew management matters Be the manager of your onboard team Brief crew on organizational policies, documentation and procedures Conduct appraisals and performance reviews of senior officers Ensure team members are trained, coached and mentored in alignment with industry standards and organizational needs Responsible for the overall welfare of the crew onboard Manage maintenance of ships to ensure seaworthiness Coordinate with service engineers, manufacturers and contractors for ship repairs and maintenance issues Consult with manufacturers for specialist advice and guidance in complex ship repairs and maintenance issues Ensure ships\' conditions and maintenance standards adhere to organizational procedures Prepare specifications and evaluate tenders Monitor ship defects list and ensure follow-up to address defects Conduct risk analysis, including causes of serious breakdowns and damages Manage ship budget and expenditure Monitor operating costs and submit quarterly budget follow-up reports Submit reports on budget, monthly key performance indicators and targets Resource planning to support vessel operations Minimum Skills and Qualifications At least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in managing vessels independently with reputable ship owners or ship managers; Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Shipyard project management experience is a plus Safety‐oriented mindset Track record of Operational Excellence Knowledge and experience with container ships is advantageous but not required Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)Ability to work effectively independently and in a team-based environment Excellent teamwork and stakeholder management skills Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities Good decision-making skills This role is opened for local employment only.
