This role is focused on improving the visibility and performance of a small business website by cleaning up outdated indexed URLs and enhancing on-page SEO. The project includes redirecting obsolete links, optimizing site structure, and implementing best practices for search engine indexing. The ideal candidate will also assist in setting up and optimizing a Google Business Profile to strengthen local SEO presence. This is a single project with clear deliverables and the potential for future collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and redirect approximately six outdated URLs to appropriate new destinations.
  • Submit URL removal requests via Google Search Console.
  • Update and optimize XML sitemap and file to reflect current content.
  • Perform on-page SEO updates, including:
  • Refining meta titles and descriptions.
  • Improving heading hierarchy for better readability and SEO relevance.
  • Adding descriptive alt text to images.
  • Checking and improving internal linking structure.
  • Provide recommendations for improving page speed, responsiveness, and mobile-friendliness.
  • Set up and optimize a Google Business Profile for the company.
  • Deliver a summary report detailing completed tasks, optimizations, and further recommendations.

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong experience in SEO strategy, on-page optimization, and technical SEO.
  • Proficiency with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz.
  • Ability to implement URL redirects and update
  • Knowledge of HTML and CMS platforms for direct on-page adjustments.
  • Familiarity with mobile optimization and website performance improvement.
  • Experience creating and optimizing Google Business Profiles.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations.
