WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?We are seeking an inspirational, experienced and highly motivated teacher of English as an Additional Language to join our team of specialists. If you are keen to help English language learners progress to the mainstream and work across tiers of support and are passionate, creative and dynamic, we want to hear from youJOB DESCRIPTION The successful candidate will deliver English Language Acquisition and English for Academic Purposes to EAL learners across the secondary school. They will support their learners in developing English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar skills. It is an expectation that the candidate will use inclusive practices and enable student agency and promote student wellbeing. Inquiry-based teaching strategies will be used to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge all learners to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders who can communicate effectively through written and spoken English. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Employing effective pedagogy and care that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by: Building learning-focused relationships Being accountable for learners academic and social and emotional progress Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment Recording and using assessment information to monitor learners and plan progression Collaborating with peers to help learners progress through the EAL tiers to become part of mainstream Providing high quality scaffolding and feedback to learners that encourages learners to reflect on their learning Involving parents in their children's learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent – teacher dialogue Employing and integrating ICT as a tool that improves children's learning and assists learners to solve authentic problems related to "real-world" problems or issues Involvement in whole school events and activities as required Modeling the skills and attitudes of a global citizenship, through presentation, personal and professional conduct Proactively safeguarding our learners Working as a tutor as assigned and collaborating with the Year Leader QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS A relevant degree A teaching qualification (or equivalent)CELTA or TESOL qualification (preferred)Evidence of continued relevant professional development Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs 2+ years experience in an international school environment (preferred)Relevant curriculum experience Nexus International School (Singapore) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our children and families.
